Abstract
This article examines the psychological trauma based on an example of the trauma survivors’ experiences. Psychological trauma is described as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). I investigated the diagnostic criteria of PTSD, neuro-pathological mechanisms of PTSD, and difficulties of PTSD through a cognitive approach, and found that trauma survivors have difficulties in attention and control. I suggest that trauma survivors are needed to revise fragmented trauma memories to more concrete, cohesive, and organized ones. This article focuses on the narrative characteristics of trauma survivors based on the dual representation theory. As a result, I propose an information processing model of trauma survivors.
