Abstract

To date, most studies about Thomas Jefferson’s political economy and its national Territory have largely overlooked the meaning of “Empire for Liberty.” This article analyzes the meaning of his statement, which lead to national territory expansion in the Mississippi Valley. Ultimately, I said his vision and reality did not correspond to his original intention, and it is his great paradox in the between theory and practice.
