조선 후기 왕실 여성의 한글 사용 양상

In this paper I researched the royal women’s writing in Hangeul from the seventeenth century to the nineteenth century. I classified Hangeul documents written by royal women into three types. First, Eon-gyo諺敎 and Haeng-jang行狀 written in Hangeul are characteristic writing of royal women, because it was not permitted that ordinary women wrote official documents in Hangeul at that period. Second, Hangeul letter is general writing of noble women including royal women, but there are some unique cases in royal women's Hangeul letters which include political issues. Third, memoirs in Hangeul of royal women is similar to diaries of noble women, but it is characteristic that royal women’s memoirs showed the other side of political affairs. Royal women’s writing in Hangeul has similarity to that of ordinary noble women, but it also has distinctive feature which resulted from its political environment, ‘royal family’. A research on the royal women’s writing could help to expand the range of women’s writing and use of Hangeul in Joseon dynasty.
