초록
This study examined the remodeling and reconstruction aspects of Hyanggyo from the late 15th century to the 16th century, and examined the spatial composition of Hyanggyo in the late Joseon Dynasty through pictorial materials. Through this, it was confirmed that the early Joseon Dynasty trend of organizing Hyanggyo according to the situation of the county continued until the late Joseon Dynasty. As time passed by more than half a century after the founding of the nation, it became necessary to renovate and rebuild the Hyanggyo built around the time of the founding of the nation, Remodeling and reconstruction were carried out according to the circumstances of each county. Depending on the status of the county, systems such as buildings and sizes that Hyanggyo should have were established, but this required a lot of financial resources. Accordingly, construction was carried out in accordance with the circumstances of the county, such as in the case of one-time reconstruction or in the case of gradual construction under a long-term plan. King Seongjong reflected the reality of local society and made sure to build according to the system when the time came for reconstruction or renovation. This measure was an efficient decision considering the circumstances and situation of the county. However, on the other hand, this measure effectively meant that the existing Hyanggyo architectural composition and scale could be maintained. Due to the measures taken by King Seongjong's judgment, the reorganization of the Hyanggyo space occurred slowly. If you look at the reconstruction of Hyanggyo in the 16th century, it was often built slowly, focusing on the Daeseongjeon Shrine and the Dongjae East Dormitory and Seojae West Dormitory, which were essential elements. As a result, the spatial composition of Hyanggyo was not unified overall or evenly according to grade of county, and appeared in different ways for each county. It shows that the spatial organization of Hyanggyo according to the circumstances of the county continued even in the late Joseon Dynasty.
