Abstract
This article aims to examine the existence of ‘Daebang-guk’-related materials appearing in Samguksagi. When examining the usage of Daebang, Daebang-guk did not refer to Daebang-gun, but a ruling force that existed within the jurisdiction of Daebang-gun. And the aspects of existence of Daebang as an independent force is especially concentrated and confirmed in the second half of the 3rd century. The fact that the existence of Daebang-guk on the records is limited in the late 3rd century can be said to be the result of a profound change in the function and role of Daebang-gun. At the end of the 3rd century, as Daebanggun became less famous, the Daebang area became a battleground where Baekje and Goguryeo fought each other to improve their influence. Therefore, the Daebangguk that appeared in Samguksagi can be said to be a clue to three-dimensionally grasp the situation of the conflict in the latter half of the 3rd century centered on the Three Kingdoms.
