Abstract
The excavation of Paleolithic sites at the Downstream of Han River was influenced by the development project following the expansion of the metropolitan area, and excavations were conducted on 23 sites(included sites group) from the 1990s to the present. In the 1990s, there was only one excavation site, but 12 sites including the Unjeong District 1 sites group were excavated in the 2000s, Even after 2010s, the excavated 10 sites. In particular, in the excavation after the 2000s, a number of major sites representing the Paleolithic industry at the Downstream of Han River were excavated. The excavation results are as follows. First, The location of the sites and the context of excavation of the artifacts were checked, Second, the aspects of Paleolithic industry were identified, and Lastly, natural science analysis data on the interpretation of sites were secured. Through this, a careful and active approach to possible in the site formation and postdepositional processes in the analysis and interpretation of Paleolithic sites and artifacts at the Downstream of Han River. In addition, it has secured a data for discussions about stone tool classification system including hand-axes. Meanwhile, the lithic industry centered on hand-axes has the same system as the Imjin-Hantan River Area, and detailed research is needed in the future.
