본 연구는 인간성의 발달에서 중요한 시기를 점하고 있는 청소년들을 대상으로 하여 청소년의 性에 대한 태도와 노인의 性에 대한 태도간의 관계를 밝혀보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 성별과 학교급이 고루 분포된 고등학생과 대학생 510명을 대상으로 하여 청소년의 성에 대한 태도와 노인의 성에 대한 태도, 노인에 대한 이미지, 조부모와의 관계에 관한 질문을 하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 청소년이 지각하는 노인의 성에 대한 태도는 긍정도 부정도 아닌 중간적인 태도를 보였고, 고등학생에 비해 대학생들, 남학생에 비해 여학생의 노인의 성에 대한 태도가 좀 더 긍정적이다. 둘째, 청소년들의 노인의 성에 대한 태도에 영향을 미치는 변수를 알아본 결과 고등학생의 노인의 성에 대한 태도를 결정짓는 변수와 대학생들의 노인의 성에 대한 태도를 결정짓는 변수는 서로 다른 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 청소년들의 자신들의 성에 대한 태도와 노인의 성에 대한 태도간의 관계를 분석한 결과, 사회인구학적 변수와, 노인에 대한 이미지, 조부모와의 관계를 통제한 상태에서 자신들의 성에 대한 태도가 노인의 성에 대한 태도를 가장 잘 설명하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 청소년들을 대상으로 노인의 성에 대한 태도 더 나아가 노인에 대한 태도를 향상시키기 위한 교육적 개입에서 자신들의 성에 대한 태도와 노인의 성에 대한 태도를 동시에 교육했을 때 교육적 효과를 거둘 수 있음을 보여주고 있다.
Abstract
This study examined adolescents' attitude toward sexuality of the elderly. A total of 510 students from high school, and college answered a sexual attitude(openness and hedonism) of adolescents, attitude toward sexuality of the elderly, image toward the elderly, and relationship with their grandparents(intimacy with grandparents, present and past experiences of co-living with grandparents, frequencies of visits and phone calls to grandparents). The results of the study were summarized as follows: (1) Adolescents' attitude toward sexuality of the elderly tended not to be both positiveness and negativeness; (2) Adolescents' sex and grades were significantly related to attitude sexuality of the elderly. Hence female and college students had more positive attitude toward sexuality of the elderly ; (3) The adolescents' sexual attitude predicted more attitude toward sexuality of the elderly when such independent variables as adolescents' SES, image toward the elderly, and relationship with their grandparents were controlled for.
