대학생의 스트레스와 우울의 관계에서 자기비난 및 의존성의 역할 : 대구지역 대학생을 중심으로

본 연구에서는 우울에 취약한 성격특성으로 알려진 자기비난과 의존성이 남녀대학생의 생활스트레스와 우울의 관계에서 어떤 역할을 하는지를 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 우울경험질문지(DEQ)와 Beck의 우울척도(BDI), 생활스트레스 척도로 구성된 설문지를 실시하였고 남녀 대학생 423명의 자료를 분석하였다. 분석 결과 첫째, 여자대학생의 경우 자기비난이 성취스트레스와 상호작용을 보였고, 남자대학생의 경우 의존성이 스트레스와 상호작용을 보여 부분적으로 특정취약성가설을 지지하면서 중재효과를 보였다. 둘째, 남녀대학생의 생활스트레스와 우울의 관계에서 자기비난 및 의존성은 모두 부분매개효과를 보였다. 남녀 대학생 모두 자기비난과 의존성이 각각 성취스트레스와 우울, 관계스트레스와 우울의 관계를 부분매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 대학생의 생활스트레스가 우울에 직접적인 영향을 미치며, 동시에 생활스트레스가 자기비난 수준과 의존성 수준을 높임으로써 간접적으로 우울에 영향을 미치고 있음을 의미한다. 본 연구의 결과는 관계스트레스와 성취스트레스를 경험하는 대학생들을 상담하는 데 있어 자기비난적 특성과 의존적 특성을 고려하면서 개입해야 할 필요성을 시사한다.

Abstract

Self-criticism and dependency have been proposed as personality dimensions that confer a degree of vulnerability to depression. The purpose of this study was to examine the role of self-criticism and dependency in the relationship between life stress and depression. That is, we tested the specific vulnerability hypothesis and examined whether self-criticism and dependency would mediate the effect of life stress on depression. 423 university students completed questionnaires assessing life stress, self-criticism, dependency, and depression. Our results provided limited support for the specific vulnerability hypothesis. The results also indicated that self-criticism and dependency partially mediated the relationship between life stress and depression of university students. The current findings suggest that reducing the level of self-criticism and dependency may be an effective means of intervention for university students who are experiencing depression.
