청소년용 부모양육태도 척도(PAQ) 타당화 및 부모양육태도와 가족 기능과의 관계 분석

초록

본 연구의 목적은 Buri(1991)가 개발한 부모양육태도 척도(PAQ)를 타당화하고, 이를 토대로 한국 청소년들이 지각하고 있는 부모양육태도 양상을 살펴보며, 부모양육태도와 가족 기능(응집성, 적응성) 간의 관계는 어떠한지 알아보고자 하는데 있다. 연구 대상자는 12-17세 남녀 중·고등학생 475명이었다. 연구결과를 살펴보면, 우선 확인적 요인분석 결과, 한국에서도 Buri의 3요인(민주적·권위적·허용적 양육태도) 모델이 검증되었고, 구인타당도(Cronbach's α=.49-.88) 역시 양호하였다. 준거 척도인 부모양육행동과 PAQ와의 상관분석 결과, 부모양육행동 하위 척도들(친밀감 및 합리성, 통제, 과잉보호, 방임)과 모두 정적·부적으로 유의미한 상관을 보여 적절한 공인타당도를 나타내었다. 부모양육태도의 일치도는 75.6%이었고, 한국 청소년들의 부모양육태도에 대한 지각 중 민주적 양육태도의 비율이 가장 높았다. 또한, 남학생이 여학생보다 부모양육태도를 더 권위적으로 느끼고 있었고, 경제수준에 따라서는 상 집단이 하 집단보다 부모양육태도를 더 민주적으로 느끼고 있었다. 마지막으로, 가족 기능의 균형 상태(연결, 융통)는 민주적 양육태도와는 정적 상관이 있었고, 권위적·허용적 양육태도와는 부적 상관이 있었다. 즉, 응집성과 적응성이 균형을 이룬 가족의 부모는 민주적 양육태도를 보이는 반면, 극단 가족의 부모는 권위적·허용적 양육태도를 보이는 것으로 나타났다.

Abstract

The purposes of this study were twofold. The first goal was to validate the Parental Authority Questionnaire (PAQ), as developed by Buri (1991). Secondly the study aimed at examining the judgment of adolescents towards the parenting style of their parents and the relationship between perceived parenting styles by adolescents and family function, focusing on its cohesion and adaptability. The total number of subjects was 475; 206 were junior-high school students and 269 were in high school. The results of this study were as follows; First of all, the validity and reliability of PAQ were identified. That is, the results of confirmatory factor analysis supported the model fitness and the Cronbach values (.49-.88) were also good. Next, all sub factors of PAQ had a positive or negative correlation with the sub factors of the Parenting Behavior Scale which was implemented as a criterion related scale so that its concurrent validity was proved. Second, the concordance rate of judging the father's parenting style and the mother's was 75.6%, and more than 60% of Korean adolescents were apt to perceive the parenting style of their parents as being democratic. Additionally, boys were more apt to perceive it as being authoritarian than girls. In addition to this, the adolescents of the higher economic status group were more inclined to perceive it as being democratic than those of the lower group. Next, adolescents whose parents were democratic were apt to perceive their families as being balanced in terms of both their adaptability and cohesion. Meanwhile, adolescents whose parents were authoritarian and permissive were apt to perceive their families as being extreme in terms of both their adaptability and cohesion.
