다문화 초기 청소년의 문화적응스트레스와 국가정체성의 관계에서 이중문화수용태도의 종단적 매개효과

초록

본 연구는 다문화 초기 청소년의 문화적응스트레스와 국가정체성의 관계에서 이중문화수용태도의 종단적 매개효과를 검증하기 위해 수행되었다. 연구대상은 다문화청소년패널조사 1기 패널 중 1차년도에서 4차년도까지 응답한 다문화 초기 청소년 1,362명이었다. 자료는 SPSS 22.0와 Mplus 8.0을 활용하여 다변량 잠재성장모형을 통해 분석되었다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 다문화 초기 청소년의 문화적응스트레스는 시간의 흐름에 따라 감소하는 양상으로 나타났고, 이중문화수용태도와 국가정체성은 시간의 흐름에 따라 증가하는 양상으로 나타났으며, 각 변인은 변화에 있어 개인 간의 차이가 있었다. 초기 수준은 이후의 변화에도 지속적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 둘째, 초4 시기에서 다문화 초기 청소년이 지각한 문화적응스트레스가 낮을수록 이중문화수용태도는 높아지고, 초4 시기에서 중1 시기동안 국가정체성의 변화는 빠르게 증가한다. 초4 시기의 이중문화수용태도가 높을수록 국가정체성은 높은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 시간의 경과에 따라 문화적응스트레스가 감소할수록 이중문화수용태도는 천천히 증가하고, 이중문화수용태도가 증가할수록 국가정체성은 빠르게 증가하였다. 셋째, 초4 시기의 이중문화수용태도는 초4 시기의 문화적응스트레스와 국가정체성의 관계에서 완전매개 역할을 하였다. 또한 종단적 관점에서 이중문화수용태도는 문화적응스트레스와 국가정체성의 관계에서 완전매개 역할을 하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다문화 초기 청소년의 국가정체성 확립과 발달을 위해 문화적응스트레스 수준에 따른 이중문화수용태도의 중요성을 의미하며, 지속적인 개입과정으로 문화적응스트레스를 줄이고, 이중문화수용태도를 높일 수 있는 방법이 요구된다. 이는 다문화 초기 청소년의 이중문화수용태도를 함양하기 위한 다문화 상담 전략과 교육적 개입이 필요함을 시사한다.

Abstract

This study was conducted to verify the longitudinal mediating effect of bicultural acceptance attitudes in the relationship between acculturation stress and national identity of multicultural early adolescents. Data were collected from 1,362 multicultural early adolescents. First, the acculturation stress of multicultural early adolescents showed a decreasing trend over time, while bicultural acceptance attitudes and national identity exhibited an increasing trend over time. Furthermore, the initial levels were found to have a persistent influence on subsequent changes. Second, the lower the acculturation stress perceived by multicultural early adolescents in their fourth year of elementary school was, the higher their bicultural acceptance attitude was, and the faster the change in national identity increases. The higher the bicultural acceptance attitude in the fourth grade of elementary school was, the higher their national identity was. In addition, as acculturation stress decreased over time, bicultural acceptance attitudes increased slowly, and as bicultural acceptance attitudes increased, national identity increased rapidly. Third, the attitude of bicultural acceptance played a complete mediating role in the relationship between acculturation stress and national identity. These results indicate the importance of a bicultural acceptance attitudes according to the level of acculturation stress for the establishment and development of national identity in multicultural early adolescents, and also suggests a need for multicultural counseling strategies to cultivate bicultural acceptance attitudes.
