Abstract
A full-length cDNA encoding ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase small subunit (rbcS)has been isolated and its nucleotide sequence determined from root in ginseng plant (Panaxginseng). The rbcS cDNA of ginseng is 790 nucleotides long and has an open reading frameof 549 bp with deduced amino acid of 183 residues (pI 8.37), 20.5 kDa. The deduced aminoacid sequence of rbcS matched to the previously reported rbcS protein genes and showed ahigh similarity with the 78% identity with rbcS of Helianthus annuus (CAA68490). In thephylogenetic analysis based on the amino acid residues, the ginseng rbcS was clustered withH. annuus(CAA68490),C. morifolium(AAO25119) and L. sativa(Q40250).
