Abstract

This study aims at analyzing the values of the Filipino migrant women w ho are finally approved migration to Korea and take final process for comi ng to Korea. Values that migrants had prior to entering to the receiving co untry are very important since they exert significant influence on the adapt ation in initial settlement and integration to the receiving countries. Marriag e migrants are assumed to be engaged in the day-to-day life in Korea, not as individual but as a co-member of the family with Korean. Previous exa mines about what values migrants have and how much they share or do n ot share the values with mainstream is critical element in the process of fo recasting their personal life as well as in the process of considering social integration. In the body of this article, I would extract policy implications through co mparison migrants’ personal, family, and social values with Korean Values. For this purpose field survey in Philippines was conducted for about six m onths with assistance from CFO (Commission on Filipinos Overseas) and th e result was compared with the result of World Values Survey. In conclusi on the requisites that should be considered in the course of performing th e migrant policies are suggested. If the multiculturalism policy considers th e cultural heterogeneity of respective cultures, understanding about characte ristics and perception of values of migrants is the starting point of that poli cy. This article has a meaning in that respect.
