초록
This paper aims to look at the present conditions and activities of ecomuseum in Portugal, and also to consider differences that were done in other European countries. For this purpose, we observed the background with a major case of Portugal in the development of ecomuseum that are focused on Seixal Ecomuseum,Barroso Ecomuseum, Alcochete Ecomuseum, Mertola Ecomuseum, Monte Redondo Museum of Ethnology. Following the concepts and theories of the Ecomuseum in France and the United Kingdom, Portugal’s Ecomuseum appeared for the local economic development strategies in the 1970s in European to promote the cultural heritage protection activities as part of the museums. At the that time developing in the traditional museum, the paradigm of the evolution of these new museums, mainly related to the development of small cities in Portugal has been around for years. This fact encounters with the paradigm of ‘cultural democratization’ in 1974 by providing the cultural heritage of knowledge and know-how to local residents. Ecomuseum in Portugal is ‘cultural extension’ or ‘community extension.’ It introduces a variety of resources in a given area, which leverage the social, cultural and economic benefits to the community. We called it ‘community museums.’ In this sense, the paradigms of Portugal Ecomuseum are integrated and innovative as active producers of cultural institutions including community and cultural heritage,as well as the activities.
