Abstract
Digital garment is a wearable computer that functions of the digital device has been fusing and combining the existing clothes. Since the early 1990s, mainly in America and Europe, it has been implemented textile electronic components and fabric circuit boards by fusing the textile and ICT technology and it is in progress the study of making a digital garment. The initial product of digital garment was developed for special purpose such as soldier uniforms. Recently, garments have been designed and released for general consumer such that they are built MP3 player, the color can be freely changed, clothing and healthcare functions are built. Digital garment are combined a new advanced ICT technologies into existing traditional industries, such as new materials, parts, sensors, and so that will be expected to achieve high added value and create a new industry and markets of textile, fashion, and apparel industries. In order to lead the new market of fashion and apparel, for Korea, it is needed urgently to secure the core technology to fuse the textile/clothing/fashion and ICT technologies. In this paper, for the purpose of better understanding of this fusion field, we classify the core technology for the digital garment and analyze the trends of each technology and product. Also, we will prospect the direction of development which is based on that.
