본 연구의 목적은 질병이나 장애가 중고령자의 경제적 지위에 어떤 영향을 미치는지를 규명하는 것이다. 이를 위해 국민노후보장패널조사(KReIS)의 제1차년도(2005년)부터 제3차년도(2009년)까지의 자료를 바탕으로 위계적 선형모형(HLM) 및 위계적 일반화 선형모형(HGLM)을 이용해 종단적(longitudinal) 분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과, 질병이나 장애는 노동공급 중단이나 질병비용을 발생시켜 당사자의 경제적 지위를 악화시킬 것이라는 처음의 예상과 달리 실제로는 중고령자의 경제적 지위에 통계적으로 유의미한 영향을 미치지는 못했는데, 이는 사전이전소득, 연령 및 단기(短期) 분석의 효과 때문인 것으로 판단된다. 그 외 변수의 경우는 중고령자의 연령이 높을수록, 교육수준이 낮을수록, 가구원수가 적을수록 그리고 미취업상태이며 임시직이나 일용직일수록 중고령자의 경제적 지위는 더 악화되는 것으로 분석되었다. 중고령자가 빈곤에 처할 확률은 여성일수록, 나이가 많을수록, 가구원수가 적을수록, 미취업일수록, 임시직이나 일용직에 종사할수록 더 높아지는 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 연구결과는 향후 우리나라 중고령자의 안정된 경제생활을 위해서는 기초노령연금이나 국민연금 노령연금과 같은 공적 연금급여액의 현실화와 공적 연금수급자 특성에 따른 다양한 급여제도의 신설이 필요함을 시사하고 있다.
Abstract
This research aims to find the effects of a disease/disability on the middle-aged & advanced-aged persons' economic status. Using the 1~3 waves of Korean Retirement and Income Study(KReIS), hierarchical linear model(HLM) and hierarchical generalized linear model(HGLM) were employed for analyzing longitudinal economic effects of a disease/disability. The results indicates that a disease/disability had no statistically significant effects on the middle-aged & advanced-aged persons' economic status. This results does not correspond with the first assumption. However, another factors such as age, education, the average number of people per household, the state of employment and working position influenced economic status of the middle-aged & advanced-aged persons significantly. Also, a disease/disability had no statistically significant effects on the poverty probability of the middle-aged & advanced-aged persons.
