초록
Rarely, an arteriovenous fistula (AVF) can follow a femoral arterial puncture for cardiovascular catheterization. Surgical repairhas been suggested as the standard treatment. We report a 66-year-old woman with a pulmonary thromboembolism as a complicationof surgical repair of a chronic femoral AVF. We believe that the repair of the AVF led to a sudden decrease in venous bloodflow, leading to thrombus formation at the site of damaged endothelium. Therefore, doctors should consider all possible complicationsthat can arise from a sudden change in blood flow as a result of repairing a chronic AVF.
