초록

연구목적: 본 연구는 장애 특성으로 인해 외면해 왔던 발달장애인 당사자의 부모 사후 삶에 대한 인식과 요구를 살펴보고, 이들의 평생설계 수립 과정을 분석하여 당사자 관점에서 필요한 지원책을 탐색하는 것이 목적이다. 연구방법: 성인 발달장애인 11명을 대상으로 심층면담을 실시하였으며, 근거이론에 따라 면담 자료를 분석하였다. 연구결과: 인과적 조건으로 ‘발달장애인의 단기적 일자리 취업 패턴과 불안정한 수입’, ‘복잡한 서비스 및 지원 시스템 이용 어려움’, ‘부모 상실에 대한 인식과 정서적 대처 방안 부재’, 중심현상으로 ‘부모 사후를 대비한 미래계획 부재와 자립생활의 막막함’, ‘지속적인 수입을 보장할 수 있는 직업의 필요성 인식’, ‘자립에 대한 열망과 정부 지원 필요 사이의 양가 감정’, 맥락적 조건으로 ‘범죄 피해 노출 및 긴급지원 체계의 낮은 접근성’, ‘장애 차별 경험으로 인한 트라우마 발현’, 중재적 조건으로 ‘미래계획 수립을 위한 가족들의 지원’, 작용/상호작용 전략으로 ‘안정적인 일자리 취업을 위한 역량강화’, ‘주변에 도움을 줄 수 있는 기관 및 정부 지원 혜택 활용’, ‘동료 장애인들과 상호작용하며 삶의 경험 공유’, 결과로는 ‘부모 사후 독립생활 준비와 건강관리 계획 수립’, ‘장애 정도에 따른 차별적 지원 정책 요구’로 나타났다. 결론 또는 시사점: 도출된 범주는 근거이론의 패러다임 분석틀에 따라 구조화하였으며, 구축된 패러다임 모형을 근거로 발달장애인의 평생설계를 위한 정책 및 현장에 주는 의의와 시사점을 제언하였다.

Abstract

Objectives: This study aims to examine the perceptions and needs of individuals with developmental disabilities regarding their lives after the death of their parents, a topic often overlooked due to the characteristics of disabilities. It also seeks to analyze the process of formulating permanency plans for these individuals and to explore the necessary support measures from their perspective. Method: In-depth interviews were conducted with 11 adults with developmental disabilities, and the interview data were analyzed using grounded theory methodology. Results: The identified causal conditions include 'short-term employment patterns and unstable income of individuals with developmental disabilities,' 'challenges in navigating complex service and support systems,' and 'lack of awareness and emotional coping mechanisms for parental loss.' The central phenomena were 'absence of future planning for life after parental death and uncertainty about independent living', 'recognition of the need for jobs that ensure stable income' and 'ambivalence between the desire for independence and the need for government support.' Contextual conditions included 'exposure to crime and low accessibility to emergency support systems' and 'trauma resulting from experiences of disability discrimination.' Intervening conditions were 'support from families for future planning.' The action/interaction strategies were 'capacity building for stable employment,' 'utilizing institutional and government support benefits,' and 'sharing life experiences through interactions with peer individuals with disabilities.' The outcomes were 'preparing for independent living and establishing health management plans after parental death' and 'advocating for differentiated support policies based on the degree of disability.' Conclusion: The derived categories were structured according to the paradigm analysis framework of grounded theory. Based on the constructed paradigm model, the study suggests implications and significance for policies and practices related to the permanency planning of individuals with developmental disabilities.
