갈등을 신앙으로 승화시킨 이그나티우스의 신학과 사상연구: 이그나티우스의 일곱 서신을 중심으로

초록

이그나티우스의 일곱 서신은 역사적으로, 신학적으로 갈등의 시대를 표현한다. 그의 일곱 서신은 에베소 교회에서부터 폴리갑에 이르기까지 자신을 ‘데오포로스(Θεοφόρος)’라 칭하며 시작한다. 이런 그의 서신은 ‘그리스도론’이 중심을 이루고 있다. 「에베소 인들에게」에서부터 「서머나 인들에게」 보낸 여섯 통의 서신은 교회를 대상으로 기록된다. 그리고 한 통의 편지는 「폴리갑에게」 보내는 개인 서신이었다. 이 일곱 서신은 크게 세 가지의 갈등으로 그 내용이 구성되어 있다. 첫째는 교회와 관련되어 있다. 전형적인 갈등은 유대주의와 영지주의 이단과 관련된 교리적 갈등과 교회의 연합에 대한 갈등이었다. 두 번째는 로마 정부의 핍박과 관련된 갈등이다. 세 번째는 그리스도인의 신앙과 관련된 갈등이다. 이그나티우스는 ‘교회론’과 ‘감독제도’, ‘참된 그리스도인의 신앙’으로 갈등에 대해 답한다. 그리고 이 모든 것의 중심에는 ‘그리스도’가 있었다. 신학의 확립이 이루어지지 않았던 초기 교부들의 시대는 신학이 포괄적으로 다뤄졌다. 그럼에도 불구하고 우리는 이그나티우스의 일곱 서신을 통해 ‘교회론’과 ‘감독제도’, ‘신앙’에 대한 신학적 근거를 찾을 수 있다. 이그나티우스는 이단들과의 갈등에 대해 「서머나 인들에게」보내는 서신에서 ‘보편교회(καθολικὴ ἐκκλησία)’라는 용어를 최초로 사용한다. 「에베소 인들에게」 보낸 서신에서는 ‘교회밖에는 구원이 없다’는 신학적 견해를 밝힌다. 그는 고난과 두려움에 대한 갈등을 ‘그리스도인의 신앙’으로 답을 한다. 이그나티우스는 그리스도의 신앙으로 갈등을 치유한다. 따라서 그의 신학과 사상연구는 우리로 하여금 중요한 것을 돌아보게 한다. 첫째는 신앙과 신학의 정체성을 돌아보게 한다. 두 번째는 우리로 하여금 그리스도 안에서 갈등에 대한 답을 찾도록 한다.

Abstract

The seven letters of Ignatius historically and theologically express the era of conflict. His seven letters begin from the Church of Ephesus to Polycarp, calling himself “Theophoros(Θεοφόρος)”. In his letters was centred on ‘Christology’. The six letters from 「To the Ephesians」 to 「To the Smyrnaeans」 are written for the church. And one letter was a personal letter to 「To Polycarp」. These seven letters are largely composed of three conflicts. The first is related to the church. typical conflicts are doctrinal conflicts related to Jewish and Gnostic heresies and conflicts with the church unity. The second is the conflict related to persecution from the Roman government. The third is a conflict related to Christian faith. Ignatius answers to the conflict by ‘Ecclesiology’, ‘Episcopacy’, and ‘Faith of True Christian’. And at the center of all this was ‘Christ’. In the days of the early Fathers, when theology was not established, theology was comprehensive covered. Nevertheless, through the seven letters of Ignatius, we can find the theological grounds for “Ecclesiology” and “Episcopacy” and “Faith”. Ignatius first used the term “The Catholic Church(καθολικὴ ἐκκλησία)” in a letter 「To the Smyrnaeans」 about conflict with heresies. In a letter 「To the Ephesians」 reveals the theological view that ‘Outside the Church there is no Salvation’. He answers the conflict over suffering and fear with ‘faith of Christian’. Ignatius heals conflict through the faith of Christ. Therefore, his study of theology and ideology leads us to look back on what is important. The first is to reflect on the identity of faith and theology. Second, it forces us to find answers to our conflict in Christ.
