Abstract

This study was performed to identify the factors related to health management in patients with tuberculosis. Data was surveyed using interview and questionnaires by 176 patients who visited a general hospital located in Seoul from June 22 to July 24, 2015. For study method, factors related to the recognition of health information were analyzed using independent t-test and ANOVA. Explanatory power of factors influencing on health management of subjects was conducted by stepwise multiple regression. The results were as follows. Firstly, there was significantly negative correlation between health information and unpredictability(r=--0.287, p<0.01), and positive correlation between uncertainty and stress(r=0.594, p<0.01). Secondly, as a result of multiple regression analysis, the practice of health behaviors in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis was significantly influenced by age(R2=0.048, p=0.000), unpredictability(R2=0.092, p=0.000), health information(R2=0.061, p=0.004). In conclusion, strategies for enhancing health information and reducing uncertainty are needed to promote the practice of health behaviors in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis.
