산업다양성은 경제위기 시 지역경제 침체를 완화하는가?: 코로나19 팬데믹 시기의 실증 분석을 중심으로

본 연구는 코로나19 팬데믹에 따른 지역경제 위기 상황과 지역 간 산업다양성의 차이를 이용하여, 산업다양 성이 지역경제 회복에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 코로나19 팬데믹에 따른 경제위기 상황에서 지역의 산업다 양성은 지역의 GRDP(Gross Regional Domestic Product) 및 인구당 GRDP 증감률을 유의미하게 증가시키는 것으로 나타나, 산업다양성이 높은 지역일수록 경제위기에 대한 회복력이 높음을 발견하였다. 특히 팬데믹 영향을 많이 받은 지역(확진자가 많은 지역)의 경우 산업다양성의 지역경제 위기에 대한 완충제로서의 기능이 보다 효과적임을 확인하였다. 또한, 분위 회귀 분석을 통해 팬데믹 시기에 역성장이 발생한 지역에서 산업다양 성 증가가 유의미한 경제 성장 효과로 나타나는 것을 발견하였다. 지역 균형발전 정책의 관점에서, 본 연구의 분석 결과는 지역 산업 정책의 방향성 측면에서 시사점을 제시할 수 있을 것으로 기대되며, 기업의 위기 대응 전략 구축에 시사점을 제공한다.
Abstract
This study examines the effect of industrial diversity on regional economic recovery during the economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The findings reveal that industrial diversity significantly increases the growth rates of regional GRDP(Gross Regional Domestic Product) and GRDP per capita during the pan- demic-induced economic crisis. These results indicate that regions with higher industrial diversity exhibit stron- ger resilience to economic crises. Specifically, in areas severely affected by COVID-19 (regions with high numbers of confirmed cases), industrial diversity proved to be a more effective buffer against regional economic crises. Moreover, quantile regression analysis shows that in regions experiencing negative growth during the pandemic, an increase in industrial diversity resulted in significant economic growth effects. From the per- spective of balanced regional development policies, our findings provide implications for the direction of region- al industrial policies and offer insights for firms in developing crisis response strategies.
