우리나라는 현재 전체 인구의 14% 이상이 65세 이상 고령자인 고령사회에 진입하였으며, 고령운전자 증가에 따라 전체 교통사고 중 고령운전자에 의한 교통사고 점유율이 증가하는 등 고령운전자 교통안전이 사회적 문제로 대두되고 있다. 이에 대한 대응으로 75세 이상 운전자의 운전면허 갱신기간이 단축되었고, 지자체 주도로 운전면허 자진반납을 시행하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 연령 증가에 따른 운전능력 변화를 분석하여 고령운전자 교통안전대책 수립에 시사점을 얻고자 하였다. 580명의 운전자를 대상으로 고령운전자 운전능력 평가시스템(Senior Driver Assessment System; S-DAS)을 연구도구로 활용하여 운전능력을 분석하였다. 전체 실험대상자를 65세를 기준으로 일반운전자 집단과 고령운전자 집단으로 구분하고, 고령운전자 집단을 75세를 기준으로 초기 고령운전자와 후기 고령운전자 집단으로 구분하여 운전능력 차이를 비교하였다. 그리고 연령대별 평균정답률과 평균반응시간 분포를 확인하였다. 이러한 연구결과는 고령운전자 운전면허 갱신이나 운전제한에 있어 운전적합성을 판단할 기준 연령을 결정하기 위한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.
Abstract
In Korea, traffic safety for elderly drivers has become a social issue. As the number of elderly drivers increases, the proportion of traffic accidents caused by older drivers increases in total traffic accidents. The purpose of this study is to analyze the change of driving ability according to the age increase by using Senior Driver Assessment System (S-DAS). A total of 580 drivers were divided into two groups based on 65 year old, and elderly drivers were divided into two groups by 75 year old. The distribution of average percent correct response and average response time by age group was also confirmed. The results of this study can be used as the basic data for determining the driver's license policy or limiting operation of elderly drivers.
