연구 목적은 남한에 정착한 북한이탈주민의 국가정체성 형성과 유형을 살펴보는 것이다. 북한이탈주민 15명을 대상으로 심층 면담을 실시하였으며 근거이론적 방법으로 분석하였다. 분석은 개방코딩(open coding), 축코딩(axial coding), 선택코딩(selective coding)으로 이루어졌다. 개방 코딩 결과총73개의 개념과 23개의 하위 범주, 6개의 상위 범주가 도출되었다. 연구 결과에 의하면, 북한이탈주민들의 국가정체성 유형은 ‘고향이 북한인 한국 사람’, ‘북한 출신 한국 국적자’, ‘탈북한(脫北韓) 한국국적자’, ‘탈국가적 개인주의자’ 로 구분하였다. 본연구 결과를 토대로 향후 남북한 주민 통합과 한반도 통일을 위한 새로운 국가정체성 모색에 대한 필요성을 제언하였다.
Abstract
This study examined the process and the patterns of national identity formation among North Korean refugees in South Korea using a ground theory approach. In-depth interviews were conducted with 15 North Korean refugees and analysed by grounded theory. Data were collected from in-depth interviews and observations until they were saturated. The interviews were analyzed according to the constant comparative method used in a grounded theory. Analysis included open coding , axial coding, and selective coding. The study derived 73 concepts, 23 subcategories, and 6 categories in open coding. Consequently, national identities of North Korean refugees are classified into “North Korean origin”, “South Korean with North Korean origin”, “South Korean Citizenship of post-North Korea”, and “post-national individualist”. The finding of the study suggested that further research is required regarding new national identities for unification of the Korea peninsula and preparation of integration of North Koreans and the South Koreans.
