東京方言の統語境界におけるdephrasing生起の分析

동경 방언에서는 연속하는 2문절(文節)을 각각 분리해서 발음하는 경우도 있고, 2문절 전체를 1문절처럼 하나로 연이어서 발음하는 경우도 있다. 운율적으로는 전자를 두 개의 악센트 구, 후자를 하나의 악센트 구로 구분하고 있는데, 특히 후자와 같이 복수의 문절이 하나의 악센트 구를 형성하는 것을 dephrasing이라고 한다. 선행연구에 의하면, 연속하는 2문절이 연체 수식이나 연용 수식과 같은 수식 관계에 있지 않는 경우, 즉 통사적으로 전혀 다른 구성요소에 속하는 문절이 이웃하는 경우에는 dephrasing이 생기지 않는다. 하지만, 실제의 음성데이터를 보면, 2문절이 수식 관계에 있지 않은 경우에도 dephrasing이 생긴 발화가 종종 발견된다. 본 실험에서는 이러한 관찰을 토대로 하여, 도치 요소가 포함된 2문절의 dephrasing 생기 빈도를 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 통사 경계가 존재하지 않는 2문절 (dephrasing생기율0.59) 이 통사 경계가 존재하는 2문절 (dephrasing생기율0.19) 보다 dephrasing 생기 빈도가 유의하게 높았으나, 통사 경계가 존재하는 2문절에서도 dephrasing이 생긴 발화가 있다는 것이 확인되었다. 본고에서는, 문중에 중요도가 높은 요소가 그렇지 않은 요소보다 먼저 나올 경우에는 현저한 강조 스트레스가 놓인다는 久野 (1978) 의 이론을 토대로, 통사 경계가 존재하는 2문절에서 dephrasing이 생기는 이유를 고찰하였다.
Abstract
In Tokyo dialect, some consecutive two-word (or ‘two-bunsetsu’) are pronounced separately while others sound like one word. In prosody, the former is referred to as two accentual phrases and the latter is one accentual phrase, and the phenomenon in which multiple words form one accentual phrase as in the latter is known as `dephrasing`. According to existing studies, when two consecutive words are not in a modified relationship such as a restrictive modification or a predicate modification, i.e. they are categorized into different syntactic elements, dephrasing does not occur. However, in actual voice data, two consecutive words without a modified relationship sometimes exhibit dephrasing. Based on these observations, this study analyzed the frequency that dephrasing occurs in two consecutive words, including inverted elements. The analysis found that the frequency of dephrasing is significantly higher in two consecutive words without syntactic boundaries (dephrasing rate of 0.59) than those with syntactic boundaries (dephrasing rate of 0.19). However, the analysis did confirm that dephrasing also takes place in the latter. This study examined the reason dephrasing occurs in two consecutive words with syntactic boundaries based on the theory of 久野(1978) that when an element with new information comes before one with old information, the former receives a pronounced stress.
