본 연구는 다카스에의 딸이 『사라시나 일기』를 집필한 의미를 모색하는 데에 그 목적이 있다. 결론을 앞서 이야기하면, 『사라시나 일기』의 집필은 과거의 자신에 대한 작자의 반성과 자기애를 드러내는 행위로 볼 수 있다. 이런 결론을 도출하는 과정으로 본 연구에서는 모노가타리에 대한 다카스에 딸의 시선과 신앙 그리고 과거 경험에 대한 내용에 주목하였다. 먼저 소녀시절의 경험을 적은 부분에서는 모노가타리에 대한 부정적 시선이 보이지 않는 사실에 주목하고, 『겐지모노가타리』의 예에서 보이는 모노가타리의 교육적 효용이 『사라시나 일기』에도 보인다는 사실을 확인하였다. 이후 『사라시나 일기』에 반복해서 언급되는 고류사 절과 약사불에 주목하여 다카스에의 딸에게서 약사신앙적인 요소가 보인다는 사실을 먼저 확인하였다. 또한, 『약사유리여래본원공덕경』에 적혀있는 유정사도(有情邪道)로부터의 구원의 내용이 있다는 사실로부터, 『사라시나 일기』에 보이는 모노가타리의 부정에 구원을 바라는 다카스에 딸의 과거에 대한 반성의 의미를 찾을 수 있다는 것을 이야기하였다. 마지막으로는 과거 소녀시절의 경험을 긍정적으로 추억하는 내용에 주목하여 다카스에의 딸이 자신의 삶을 바라보는 상반된 시선이 모노가타리를 대하는 태도와 겹쳐진다는 사실을 논하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to explore the significance of Takasue's daughter writing "The Sarashina Diary." In conclusion, the author's writing of "The Sarashina Diary" can be seen as an act of reflection on and self-affirmation of her past self. In the process of arriving at this conclusion, the study focuses on Takasue's daughter's perspective and faith in monogatari, as well as her past experiences. Firstly, in the section where childhood experiences are described, attention is drawn to the absence of a negative perspective on monogatari, and it is confirmed that the educational utility of monogatari, as seen in "The Tale of Genji," is also evident in "The Sarashina Diary." Subsequently, attention is drawn to the repeated mention of the Koryuji Temple and Medicine Buddha in "The Sarashina Diary," confirming the presence of a pharmacosmistic element in Takasue's daughter. Furthermore, it is discussed that from the content of the "The Medicine Buddha Sutra," there is a meaning of reflection on Takasue's daughter's past in "The Sarashina Diary," seeking salvation from the negativity of monogatari. Finally, attention is paid to the positive reminiscence of childhood experiences, and it is argued that Takasue's daughter's contrasting perspective on her own life overlaps with her attitude towards monogatari.
