Abstract

The time setting of photography creation began with the desire of bourgeoisie for factual duplication of features as well as contribution to science and art. Sudden advent of bourgeoisie more hastened appearance of photography as a means of satisfying their desire for status rise. Portrait photos technologically and artistically bettered since creation of photography have enlarged their base, replacing portrait paintings, but with advent of Digital Age, generalized use of cameras has brought in technical denigration of portrait photos as well as depreciation of photographers’ authority. However, as photo retouching program bought by Digital Age has rapidly become easy for ordinary people to handle with, its function as identification use has been meaningless. This situation has exposed various problems, by degrading functions of photos currently used for identification, at public institutes that need identification confirmation, concerning which problems the government should try to find ways to solve via talks with experts. However, rather than trying to solve these problems, it has spread them more by considering installation of auto photo-taking machines at its institutes. Taking portrait photos is several times harder than taking photos of inanimate objects. Though it’s a complicated activity done via communication between photo-taker and object, should the thought that it’s something anyone can do expand, social confusion of certification photos will much more deepen. This thesis suggests a new introduction of photo-taking real-name certification system as a way to raise credibility of certification photos of Digital Age, and demands a policy change of the government with regard to its systematic and technological issues related to this.
