초록
Objective : Seborrheic dermatitis is a chronic and recurrent skin condition. We report a case in which a combination of oral Yanggyuksanhwa-tang and Hwangryunhaedok-tang wet dressing was effective in achieving rapid improvement in a patient with seborrheic dermatitis. Methods : A 23-year-old male with seborrheic dermatitis, presenting with facial erythema, scale, and pruritus, was treated for 2 weeks with oral Yanggyuksanhwa-tang, Hwangryunhaedok-tang wet dressing, and acupuncture therapy. Clinical improvements in erythema and scale were documented through photographs, while subjective discomfort was assessed using a Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). Results : One week after treatment initiation, erythema, papules, and scaling worsened temporarily. However, by the second week, these symptoms had almost completely resolved, and pruritus decreased from an NRS score of 5 to 1. No recurrence of symptoms was observed for approximately one month following treatment. Conclusion : The combination of oral Yanggyuksanhwa-tang and Hwangryunhaedok-tang wet dressing demonstrated efficacy in treating seborrheic dermatitis. This case highlights the potential of traditional Korean external therapies in managing seborrheic dermatitis.
