잭슨 폴록(J. Pollock)의 ‘드리핑(dripping)’작품에서 ‘대상 a’(object a)와 반복 강박적 이미지 분석

본 논고는 폴록의 1948-50년의 <오려내기>와 <오려낸 형상>, 그리고 1949년의 <그물망으로부터: 넘버 7>에서 인간의 형상과 그 형상이 나타난 원인을 분석해 보았다. 그 결과 그의 작품에서 표현된 인체의 형상은 어머니의 몸으로 볼 수 있었다. 그것은 라깡의 ‘대상 a’이론에 의하면 아이가 상징계로 진입하면서 분리된 어머니의 몸이 대체된 형상이기 때문이다. 1948-50년의 <오려내기>와 <오려낸 형상>에서 나타난 그 형상은 그가 즐거운 어머니의 귀환을 염원한 것이라는 사실을 밝혔다. 그것은 프로이트가 언급한 아이의 실패놀이와 유사성을 통해 규명되었다. 아이가 실패를 침대 밑으로 던져 자신의 시야에 사라지게 한 것은 어머니의 떠나감을 뜻하며, 그 아이가 실패를 다시 끌어당겨 자신의 시야에 나타나게 한 것은 어머니의 돌아옴을 의미하는 것으로 이 아이의 진정한 목적은 어머니의 즐거운 귀환에 있었다. 아이의 실패놀이와 같이 폴록이 <오려내기>에서 그 형상을 오려낸 것은 그것이 자신의 시야에서 사라졌기 때문에 어머니의 부재를 의미하며, 그 형상을 다시 덧붙여 <오려낸 형상>을 만들어 낸 것은 그것이 시야에 다시 나타났기 때문에 어머니의 현존을 의미하였다. 결국 실패놀이에서 아이의 목적은 어머니의 즐거운 귀환에 있었듯이 폴록도 역시 자신의 두 작품을 통해 드러낸 그의 욕망은 어머니의 즐거운 귀환에 있었다는 사실이 밝혀졌다. 또한 그의 <그물망으로부터: 넘버 7>은 반복 강박적 이미지로 볼 수 있었다. 그 근거는 아이가 지치지 않고 반복한 실패놀이에서 찾았다. 그 행동은 아이의 반복충동에 의한 것으로 프로이트에 의하면 아이의 본능 포기, 즉 어머니의 부재를 존재화한 것이다. 폴록도 마찬가지로 <그물망으로부터: 넘버 7>에서 어머니의 이미지를 반복적으로 표현하였다. 그것은 아이의 실패놀이와 같이 그가 반복 강박적 이미지를 통해 자신의 본능 포기, 즉 어머니의 부재를 존재화한 것으로 해석할 수 있었다.
Abstract
Jackson Pollock's dripping paintings was represented the flatness of a surface with line and colour only. His paintings was far from with realistic, naturalistic image. But in his works of art it is an unusual phenomenon that his <cut out>and <cut-out figure>come into views with human figure. So it is analyzed to represent his mother image through the with Psychoanalysis theory. It is interpreted with the image of 'object a' with Jacques Lacan's theory's because of splitting mother's body in the course of the symbolic state. Pollock cut out the human figure in <Cut Out>, and he represented the human figure to <Cut- Out Figure> again. His work was stand for absence and presence of mother's figure. His work was resembled child's paly with wood reel with a piece of string round it. So to speak, it menas the absence of mother's body with the child's throwing of it. On the contrary it means the presence of mother's body with the child's drawing of it. So he wanted to the joyful return of his mother through the image of his works. But the appearance of the woman's image with the <Out of the Web: Number 7> was represented the image of the repetition -compulsion. It is resembled the child's repeated behavior with the desire of the repetition -compulsion. The child's repeated behavior is meaning the renunciation of the satisfaction of an instinct. For that reason the appearance of woman's figure with <Out of the Web: Number 7> is interpreted with as the absence of mother. Finally in the view of the result, he wanted the return of his mother with through <Cut Out>and <Cut-Out Figure>, and <Out of the Web: Number 7> represented his renunciation of the satisfaction of an instinct, so to speak be existing of his mother's absence.
