Abstract
Ir台uri開 ofwrist in upper eXtremity 15 common onset in industriaiized world. The devel0Pment ofjoint arthroplasty and mechanical joint 15 area of research for biomechanical engineer and surgeon for a decade. Therefore, the kno`〃 ledge of charactcristic ofjoint motion 15 essential to develop the artificiai wristjoint. In this study, the joint moti0ns of wrist roquired for activities of dany living (ADLs) , including personal hygiene and care. and general home activity wel· e measul 'ed using flexible 이ectrogo丁liometer. TOtal of 25 different daily activities were separated into four groups and tested on 15 subjects who did not show any abnormality of their joint functions. The maximum functional range of motion required for ADLs were obtaincd and standardized for analysis and co汀lparison. Also, a least func仇onal range of motion fol· ADI£ wore investigated. Results revealed that any significant diff鮮아긴ces were not found in least funct 'lonal range of motion between left and right wlist to perform ADLS. However, a significant difforence wa$ found in diffelent ADLs. Therefore, least range of mo毓on obtained in this study can bo uscd as basic data to design artiflcial 」oint and set a goal for surgeon to achievc appropriate treatment from patients.
