Abstract
Augmented reality(AR) is a field of computer research which deals with the combination of real-world and computer-generated data(virtual reality), where computer graphics objects are blended into real footage in real time. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the AR based exercise programs with head mounted display(HMD) in children with cerebral palsy(CP). Total of 17 children with CP were selected based on predetermined selection criteria among the CP children from rehabilitation hospital. Measurements of spatiotemporal parameters of gait with GaitRite computerized gait analysis system were evaluated. The results of this study were presented as follows: Firstly, there was significantly different of temporal gait parameters as gait velocity and cadence in the CP. Secondly, following AR based exercise programs with HMD, the spatial gait parameters was significantly increased step length and stride length on right and left side. Lastly, there was significantly different of functional ambulation performance. In conclusion, AR based exercise programs was effective on spatiotemporal parameters of gait and AR is feasible and suitable for individuals with CP. Therefore, further studies employing AR based exercise programs with HMD were recommended.
