Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate cuff-off value of Trunk Impairment Scale(TIS) for fall risk factor in subacute stroke patient and identified a discrimination of fall prediction. We recorded the number of falls and estimated Trunk activity (Trunk Impairment Scale, TIS), Balance(Berg Balance Scale, BBS) for 79 subjects with subacute stroke. Chi-square and Mann-Whitney U test were used to analyze demographic characteristics of the subjects, Receiver operation characteristic curve (ROC curve) was conducted to detect cut-off value of TIS for fall prediction and Chi-square test was used to identify the relationship among TIS, the fall, and BBS. The findings of this study were the following; A cut-off score ≤14.5 on the TIS was the standard value for prediction of risk factor of falling and that of > 15.5 on the TIS was value for prediction BBS > 40. Probability of the fall was low as trunk control and dynamic balance were good as the standard cut-off value of 14.5 ~ 15.5 on the minimum TIS is approximate value. Therefore the trunk control training has to be concentratedly managed with functional training since had a stroke.
