Abstract
The purpose of this study was to see the performance characteristics between nonword repetition(NRT) and sentence repetition(SRT) and also to see the correlationship among various language factors. A total of 28 divided by two groups - 13 specific language impairment children and 15 normal children of aged 4 to 6 each - were surveyed and positive reactivity scores of NRT and SRT of each group were compared. And it was examined the type of error of NRT. then finally the relationship between each performance of NRT and SRT and various language factors such as age, IQ, receptive vocabulary, expressive vocabularies and syntax comprehension was examined. The result were as follows: First, performance gap between NRT and SRT of each group was obviously seen. Second, show the difference in th two groups, depending on the type of error NRT, especially with the addition and substitute of the consonant. Third, the performance of NRT had insignificant relationship with various language factors (such as age, IQ, receptive vocabulary, expressive vocabularies and syntax comprehension). However, the performance of sentence repetition was significantly correlated with various factors such as receptive vocabulary, expressive vocabularies, syntax comprehension. It can be said that the performance of NRT and SRT is a reliable screening test which can accurately identify whether a child has a specific language impairment or not.
