증강현실 기반 언어중재가 실어증 환자의 문장이해와 따라말하기 능력에 미치는 효과

초록

본 연구에서는 브로카, 베르니케 실어증 환자를 대상으로 낱말 및 그림카드와 같은 전통적 중재 방법에서 벗어나 새로운 중재 방법인 증강현실 언어프로그램을 적용하여 문장이해와 따라말하기 능력 변화를 알아보고자 하였다. 증강현실 기반의 언어치료 프로그램이 전통적 매체와 비교하여 문장 따라말하기 능력에 미치는 효과를 알아보기 위해 실어증 환자 5명에 대한 중재 전-후 향상을 대상자 간 중다기초선설계로 살펴보았다. 또한 증강현실기반 언어프로그램 중재가 실어증 환자의 문장이해에 미치는 영향을 살펴보기 위해 기초선 단계 전 사전평가와 유지단계 이후에 실시한 사후 평가를 비교하였다. 연구의 결과로는 첫째, 증강현실 기반 언어치료 프로그램 이용한 중재가 실어증 환자의 문장 이해 능력에 미치는 영향을 알아본 결과 대상자 모두 중재 전보다 중재 후 향상을 보이며 유의미한 효과가 있다는 것을 확인 할 수 있었다. 둘째, 전통적 중재 매체와 비교하여 증강현실 기반 언어프로그램 중재에서 실어증 환자의 문장 따라말하기 능력이 더 향상되었음을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 증강현실 기반 언어치료 프로그램의 중재 후 기초선과 비교하여 일반화 단계에서 모든 실어증 환자의 문장 따라말하기 능력이 긍정적인 변화가 있었음을 확인 하였다. 결론적으로 전통적 중재와 비교하여 동적인 움직임을 3D 입체 영상으로 보여주는 증강현실 기반 언어프로그램 중재가 실어증 환자의 음운작업 기억 및 정보처리에 있어 더욱 효율적 매체임을 확인 할 수 있었다.

Abstract

This study was designed to determine whether augmented-reality (AR)-based intervention is useful to improve sentence comprehension and repetition skills in people with aphasia (PWA). Five PWA (3 with Broca’s aphasia, 2 with Wernicke’s aphasia) were instructed to perform sentence comprehension tasks before and after AR-intervention. They also completed 29 sessions of sentence repetition training consisted of 3 – 8 baseline, 15 intervention, 3 maintenance, and 3 follow up sessions. During each intervention session, participants were given AR-based and traditional stimuli (i.e., words and picture cards). AR-based intervention improved sentence comprehension skills in post-evaluation rather than pre-evaluation of aphasia patients. In addition, participants performed better in the sentence repetition tasks when they were provided with AR-stimuli rather than traditional stimuli.Finally, the AR-based intervention was found to enhance generalization of the sentence repetition training. The results indicate that AR-based intervention that presents dynamic motion in 3D images is more effective for PWA to retain phonological memory and process learned information than traditional training.
