장애대학생 대상 IT 교육 프로그램에 대한 학습경험의 분석

본 연구는 장애대학생을 위한 컴퓨터 프로그래밍 수업 모형을 개발하여 실행한 후, 수업에 참여한 장애학생들을 대상으로 면담을 실시하여 프로그래밍 학습 경험을 분석하였다. 본 연구의 참여자는 8명이며, 면담 내용은 ‘합의에 의한 질적 분석 방법(Consensual Qualitative Research)’을 통하여 분석하였다. 본 연구에서 장애대학생은 프로그래밍에 대한 관심, 컴퓨터에 대한 비전, 학원과는 차별화된 수업에 대한 기대 등을 가지고 본 프로그래밍 수업에 참여하였다고 밝혔다. 프로그래밍 수업에서 장애대학생들은 수업 내용의 높은 난이도로 인하여 곤란을 겪었고, 장애로 인한 시ㆍ청각 정보습득의 곤란으로 프로그래밍 수업 고유의 특성인 특수 용어, 표, 알고리즘, 수식을 이해하는데 많은 어려움을 경험한 것으로 나타났다. 그럼에도 불구하고 본 수업을 통해 참여자들은 그동안 어렵게만 생각했던 프로그래밍에 대해 긍정적인 태도를 갖게 되었고 컴퓨터 관련 진로 설정에 도움을 받았다. 향후 프로그램에 대해 장애대학생들은 수업방법의 개선, 프로그래밍 학습의 특성을 고려한 보조공학 지원, 비장애 학생과의 효율적인 통합환경 구성, 멘토링 시스템 필요 등을 개선방안으로 제안하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to understand the experiences on computer programming class for college students with disabilities in relation to why participants enrolled in computer programming class, what they experience during the class and what they achieve after completion of the class. Interview with eight students with disabilities who enrolled in computer programming class was conducted at the end of the completion of the course. The data collected was analyzed by Consensual Qualitative Research (CQR). The result of study indicated that the participants acknowledge this class provides for students with disabilities a special chance to study computer programming which grant full support for students with disabilities, despite the fact that some of them had experienced being refused taking such class in the private institution. The participants obtained a sense of accomplishment when they performed well during class and improved mathematical ideas. Furthermore, students could set a goal for their future in relation to computer technology after completing this course. Recommendations on improvement of class concerning with disability accommodation and providing assistive technology by participants were also illustrated in this study.
