자폐스펙트럼 장애유아의 자기결정 경험 증대를 위한 로봇의 활용 가능성 탐색: 선택하기 활동을 중심으로

초록

본 연구는 자폐스펙트럼 장애유아의 자기결정 증진을 위한 로봇의 활용 가능성을 알아보고자 한 질적 연구이다. 연구 방법은 2명의 연구 참여 아동이 오전 자유놀이 시간을 활용하여 주 2회, 19회기 15분에서 40분씩 텔레프레즌스 로봇과의 활동을 하는 것이며 이 과정을 카메라 녹화와 함께 관찰노트로 작성하는 한편 활동의 시작 전후 담당교사와의 인터뷰를 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 수집된 자료는 전사과정을 거쳐 관찰노트와 취합되었으며 이를 통해 의미 있는 내용을 분류 및 범주화하여 사례를 도출하고 해석하였다. 자폐스펙트럼 장애유아들은 로봇과의 활동을 통해 처음엔 두려움과 호기심을 보였으며, 점차 능동적인 상호작용과 친근감을 표현하고, 언어적 선택하기를 보였다. 본 연구 결과를 통해 환경에 소극적으로 반응하는 자폐스펙트럼 장애유아에게 텔레프리젠스 로봇은 유아가 적극적으로 자기결정 경험의 기회를 가질 수 있게 하는 매개체가 될 수 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.

Abstract

This study explored the applicability of telepresence robot to Promote Self- Determination of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. As for research method, two selected children engaged in activities with a telepresence robot in free periods in the morning. The activities were conducted in 19 sessions, twice a week, 15 to 40 minutes each. All the process was recorded by a camera, and notes were taken while the young children were observed. To gather more data, their teacher were interviewed before and after the activities began. Data was collected as anecdotal records along with complete observational notes and data from interviews with teachers, and then these were categorized to classify the meaningful contents of those activities among them. As a result, it’s found that the children with autism spectrum disorder were able to verbally express what’s on their mind while they engaged in the communication -including activities with the robot. The findings of the study confirmed that the telepresence robot could serve as a medium to provide more active interaction for children with autism spectrum disorder who passively respond to the given environments.
