Abstract
With an ageing population, concerns about subjective cognitive decline (SCD) are becoming an increasingly relevant topic that arises in identifying the cognitive- communicative change and preventing neurological disorders. The purpose of this study was to review literatures on predictors of SCD systematically, and to propose their effect sizes using a meta-analysis method. Thirty-four researches published since 2005, meeting the inclusion and exclusion criteria, were entered into the analysis. Predictive values were pooled from cognition (9 domains), communication (5 domains), and other (3 domains). We tested the quality of this study by essential quality indicators and inter-rater reliability. We also performed a meta-analysis for calculating effect size, and verifying homogeneity and publication bias. The main findings were as follows. Firstly, average effect sizes of 3 predictors in SCD were all significant. Communicative value was especially the highest.Secondly, most domains of the cognitive predictor were significant. All communicative and other domains were also significant as predictors. Lastly, memory, word fluency, and age had high-level effect sizes in each predictor. Our results provide the evidence-based information to predict SCD. This study may contribute to designing the preventive intervention for SCD in daily life and increasing its effect.
