Abstract
The Catholic Priests' Association for Justice(CPAJ), which came to the world in September, 1974, very earnestly strived against Park Chung-Hee's Yushin and Chun Doo-Hwan's military autocracy regimes with students of anti-government inclination. The birth of the CPAJ was motivated by the Bishop Tji Hak-Soon of the Diocese of Wonju who was arrested in July that year on the charge of being involved in the National Student Association for Democracy. The CPAJ led the movement for democratization with the Citizens' Group for the Restoration of Democracy in the period of the latter halp of 1974 and the beginning of 1975. The CPAJ asserted the fabrication of the People's Revolutionary Party case which brought 8 persons involved to death on the next day of the judicial decision of the Supreme Court. They also played an active role in revealing the truth of the massacre of Kwangju which occurred in May, 1980. The statement of the CPAJ, which revealed the involvement of the high-level officials in the death of Park Jong-Chul, gave rise to the June Struggle for Democracy. The CPAJ was remarkably concerned about the laborers and farmers who had been disregarded by the regimes of Park Chung-Hee and Chun Doo-Hwan.
