Abstract
This study compares the concepts of the ruling elite in medieval England and ancient-medieval Korea. For the past half century, researchers of ancient-medieval Korean history have discussed the aristocracy as the ruling elite group and the aristocracy system, a political and social system ruled by the aristocracy, to analyze the characteristics of the period, the governance and the ruling system of ancient-medieval Korean society. This study examines the concept of the nobility in Europe, especially in the ruling elite group of medieval England, where the concept of nobility or aristocracy emerged and changed. It aims to provide an opportunity to look at the concept of nobility or aristocracy, which have been debating in the researchers of ancient-medieval Korean history, from a new perspective.
