Abstract
Until now, traditional ship research has been focused on the Goryeo-Joseon period, where most of the excavated real hulls belong. Ancient Korea, it is generally recognized as a stage of transformation from a quasi-structural ship to a complete structural ship, but due to lack of data, research was mainly conducted based on mold earthenware, but some real hull data have recently been discovered and actively studied. By reviewing these physical hull data, ship-shaped earthenware, and records of historical books, I examined the characteristics and transition process of ships in ancient Korea. Through this, three structures were proposed to distinguish between quasi-structured and completely structured ships, and among them, the side bottom plate structure, which also serves as an outer plate, was expressed as the standard for quasi-structured ships. In addition, the history of ships from the Three Kingdoms Period to the Goryeo Dynasty was presented in five stages. The first is when ships of various structures were used by region and country. The second was the period when flat-bottom Silla ships were mainly used after the Seonbu was installed. The third was the period when various structures of ships were mixed as control weakened at the end of Unified Silla. The fourth is the period when flat-bottom Goryeo Line with a L-shaped wooden board is used. The last time is when flat-bottom Goryeo ships are used, where the L-shaped wooden disappeared.
