초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate whether pre-writing in L1 is an aid to producing more accurate and fluent written production. Six lower level college students wrote two different narrative writings. Participants used L2 during pre-writing in Task 1, and used L1 in Task 2 under same conditions. The results showed that these lower proficiency students produced more fluent and accurate L2 written productions using L2 brainstorming rather than L1 brainstorming. The results of the study contradict previous research. Previous research showed that low proficiency students received positive effects from using L1 during L2 writing. Also, individual differences were presented when using L2 brainstorming for L2 writing.
