Abstract

In the industrial age, manufacturing organizations based on tangible asset were core sector in business part. But many people pay attention to organizations with intangible assets, as moves to the post industrial society, and then to the knowledge society. Therefore, in order to explicate a management system of organizations based on intangible assets, we pursue to develope the knowledge intensiveness for knowledge intensity scales of work in organization. We refer to the key characteristics of the knowledge based organization as follows. First, works of knowledge based organization are required on the expertise. Second, the core part of works is performed by experts having the expertise. Last, as the expertise consisted of informal knowledges, knowledge works are processing on dialogues, consensuses, persuasions and negotiations based on human and social relationship. Thus, works in knowledge based organizations are going on through manipulating and orchestrating of individual thoughts and languages. Using these conceptual definition, we refer to the knowledge intensity of work as characteristics to works required on the expertise composed of pure and informal knowledge, and classify the componential knowledge intensiveness of work to knowledge complexity and variation required on work, and client connectivity and collaboration of work, results ambiguity of work, which order in frame of input-throughput-output paradigm. Findings on this empirical test are the components of knowledge intensiveness to client connectivity and collaboration of work, results ambiguity of work, knowledge ambiguity required on work. This results suggest that the strongest factors are client connectivity and collaboration of work, we should be focused on the throughput of knowledge work in order to parsimonious scales of knowledge intensity of work.
