Abstract

This study examines the relationships among career management behavior, career outcomes and innovative behavior based on 463 survey data from employees of Korean large manufacturing firms. The main findings of the study are as follows: first, we found that career management behavior was positively associated with career outcomes. Second, in order to investigate the relationship between career outcomes and innovative behavior we have classified the concept of career outcome into two types: objective and subjective career outcomes. Our empirical analysis shows that both objective and subjective career outcomes have positive relationship with innovative behavior of employees. Third, we have also found that there is positive relation between objective career outcome and subjective career outcome. Finally, career oucomes were mediating the relationship between career management behavior and innovative behavior. This study suggests that setting up proper individual career management support system by organization is required for better organizational performance.
