Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of word regularity in Korean visual word recognition. This study also examined whether word regularity effect is affected by how consistently a certain word is pronounced based on the proper phonological rules. By using lexical decision tasks, we examined the interaction between word frequency and regularity for words with different degrees of the proper phonological rule application. The results showed clear effects of word regularity only in words with a lower degree of the proper phonological rule application. The current study showed that word regularity effect was influenced by the degree of the proper phonological rule application.
