초록
The purpose of the study was twofold: (1) to validate the tool of the Second Language Writing Anxiety Reasons Inventory (SLWARI); (2) to measure the extent of L2 writing anxiety, taking gender, grade level, L1 writing anxiety, and reasons for L2 writing anxiety into account. This study involved 163 university students in English education who completed three writing anxiety scales. Exploratory Factor Analysis and Confirmatory Factor Analysis were used to validate the five-factor constructs of the SLWARI. The results indicated that the underlying constructs were partially validated in this study. It was found that positive correlations were found between L2 writing anxiety and L1 writing anxiety, as well as between L2 writing anxiety and five sub-components of reasons for L2 writing anxiety. The result of multiple regression indicated that the participants’ writing competence, writing anxiety in L1, as well as their gender significantly predicted the L2 writing anxiety.
