With the transition of foreign language high schools into general high schools and the full implementation of the high school credit system in 2025, the 2022 Revised National Curriculum has introduced significant structural changes to the second foreign language curriculum. As the fifth major revision following the 6th national curriculum, which marked the shift towards communicative language teaching, the 2022 Revised National Curriculum emphasizes fostering communication skills in daily life. It includes an officially designated list of core vocabulary and basic communicative expressions that serve as fundamental materials for textbook development and instructional planning. This study aims to critically examine the specific proficiency level targeted by high school German under the 2022 Revised National Curriculum and to assess the validity of the prescribed basic communicative expressions.
