초록
인간존재의 인간됨의 가장 핵심적인 기초 요건이 도덕성이라면, 도덕적 가치나 도덕적 규범의 가치는 인문적 가치 영역에서 핵심적인 기초를 이루고 있으며, 따라서 인문교육 중 핵심적인 것이 도덕윤리교육이다. 공교육에서야말로 일반교육(general education), 즉 특정 활동 영역에서 요구되는 특정의 전문적 지식이나 능력의 함양을 목표로 하는 교육보다는 인간으로서 인간다운 문화생활을 영위할 수 있도록 자질과 소양을 길러주는 일반교육을 그 중핵과제로 삼아야 할 것이다. 따라서 "도덕과" 교육이 공교육의 핵심기초가 된다.도덕교육의 이념을 제도적 장치로서의 공교육 틀 안에서 구현하는 것이 도덕과 교육의 과제라 생각한다면, 도덕과 교육이 처해 왔던 정치사회적 여건 중 어떤 것이 도덕교육의 이념을 구현하는 데 가장 큰 장애요인이었었는지 반성해 보고, 그것을 극복하기 위해 재정비해야 할 것이 무엇인지를 진지하게 검토해 보는 것이 도덕과 교육의 장래를 위해 중요한 과제가 될 것이다. 정치적 현실로부터 벗어난 독자성을 갖는 순수한 "도덕교육"의 관점에 서서 도덕과 교육의 목적, 내용, 방법 등을 새로이 정립하는 일이 급선무이다.구체적으로, 이른바 "국가생활, 민족생활"이라고 명명된 생활영역에 관한 도덕교육의 목표와 내용과 관련해, 국가적 특수 상황이 공교육에 요구하는 것을 도덕과 교육이 합당한 방식으로 수용하는 것이 문제의 초점이다. 국가생활을 다루더라도 어디까지나 도덕적 문제로 다루어야 한다. 국가권력의 도덕적 정당성을 성찰해 봄으로써 국가의 인륜성을 이해하게 하고, 당연히 국가와 국민의 상호적 사회윤리관계도 다루어야 한다. 민족문제도 마찬가지로 도덕적 문제로서 다루어, 민족 공통체의 통합이 갖는 도덕성과 분열이 불러오는 부도덕성을 성찰케 하며, 이를 토대로 통일의 도덕적 정당성을 숙고하게 해야 한다. 특히 이념적 분열이 민족애라는 정서적 도덕성을 통해 완화 극복될 수 있음을 보여줌으로써 통일을 도덕적 차원에서 가능케 하는 길을 모색해야 한다.
Abstract
It's the task of moral education as a school subject to realize the ideal of moral education in the system of public education. It is, therefore, always needed to re-examine what the hindrances were in realizing the ideal and how it is to be eliminated. Considering the history and circumstances do moral education in schools, it is all the more important as of now, on the eve of next curriculum reform, to re-set the purpose, contents and methods of it from the viewpoint of "pure moral education", independent of the political influences. Concretely, it is urgently needed to examine how to accept the social demand which the special situation of the state and nation makes to the moral education in schools. The life on the level of state and nation has to be handled as a moral problem. The moral righteousness of the power of the state has to be inquired and through that the morality of the state has be comprehended. The problems of social ethics in the relation of the state and its members have to be handled. The problem of nation has also to be handled as a moral problem: the immorality of division of the nation, the morality of re-unification. It must be showed that the ideological division can be healed morally by the emotional moral attitude named as love of the nation, The possible way of re-unification must be searched for on the moral level, too.
