마음치료, 철학적 대화인가 프로작인가? -인문치료적 관점에서-

현대인들은 수많은 병에 시달리고 있다. 지금까지 병(disease)은 때로는 제거 되어야 할 것으로서 간주되어 비정상의 범주에 속하는 것으로 규정되어왔다. 그러나 이와 같은 병에 대한 부정적인 이해는 우리의 삶을 이해하는 데 한계가 있을 뿐만 아니라 부작용도 크다. 지금은 병에 대한 이해와 병과 삶의 관계에 대한 이해의 전환이 필요한 시점이다. 본 논문은 병 중에서도 현대인들의 삶에 있어서 새롭게 부각되고 있는 마음의 병에 대한 치료적(therapeutic) 이해를 대화(dialogue)에 대한 치료적 연구를 통하여 확장하여 보고자 한다. 특히 최근에 인문학이 지니고 있는 치료적 힘, 즉 문학․역사․철학을 비롯해 연관학문들이 지니고 있는 치료적 요소들을 발굴하고 활용하고자 하는 인문치료(humanities therapy)라는 새로운 연구 영역에 대한 기초적 연구를 위하여 인문학의 토대를 형성하고 있는 철학의 치료적 요소를 철학적 대화(philosophical dialogue)를 통하여 살펴보고자 한다. 이와 같은 연구목표를 위하여 우선 마음의 병에 대한 진단과 치료에 있어서 지대한 공헌을 한 프로이트의 현대적 수용을 정신의학과 심리학을 중심으로 비판적으로 살펴본다. 의학화와 심리학화에 대한 비판적 접근은 미국의 철학실천의 대부라고 할 수 있는 루 매리노프(Lou Marinoff)의 철학적 입장을 바탕으로 전개한다. 이와 같은 비판적 성찰을 통하여 프로이트의 의학화와 심리학화 속에 내포되어 있는 인문학적 매체로서 대화에 대한 치료적 주목을 소크라테스에 있어서 철학적 대화 속에서 극대화 하고자 한다. 이와 같은 과정을 통하여 현대인들의 마음의 병에 대한 예방이나 진단 그리고 치료에 있어서 인문학의 고유한 매체인 대화의 힘을 환기시키고자 한다.
Abstract
Contemporary people suffer from lots of diseases. Diseases were once deemed to be removed, which has been defined to belong to an abnormal category. However, the negative understanding of these diseases have the limit in understanding our life and serious side effects as well. It is now a high time that we should convert our understanding of the diseases and the relation between diseases and life. In this thesis we intend to extend a therapeutic understanding of the mental disease out of various diseases newly emerging in the lives of contemporary people through a therapeutic study. Especially we'll extract the therapeutic power the humanities have recently, that is, therapeutic elements literature․history․philosophy and related sciences have, and the therapeutic elements of philosophy forming the humanities foundation for the basic study in the realm of a new researching area called humanities therapy through philosophical dialogue. For this research objective, to begin with, we are going to critically review the modern acceptance of Freud who made a great contribution in diagnosing and curing mental diseases centered on psychiatry and psychology. The critical approach to 'medical therapy' and 'philosophical therapy' develops on the basis of the philosophical position of Lou Marinoff who is the Father of a philosophical practice in USA. Through the critical self-reflection like this, we want to maximize the therapeutic attention to the dialogues as humanities media included in Freud's psychiatry and psychology through philosophical dialogues in Socrates' philosophy. Through this process, we'll call the power of dialogues, the unique media of humanities in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the mental diseases of contemporary people.
