Abstract
The trend of Dance in 2000 is the use of new media, projection screen. Leading Choreographers in Europe such as German Jan Pusch, Belgian Frederic Flamand and Wim Vandekeybush and French Herve Robbe are in search of finding an innovative new form supported by new media. They conceive a choreography in connection to scenography. They either conceive themselves or collaborate with a scenographer, video artist, or visionary cineast. In each collaboration, they create a new way of expressing their own imaginations and visions. The use of video projection contributes to expand the dimension of stage and convey cyber and synthetic realm. The video projection in 2000 is digitalized, computer generated. It is more brighter than in the 80th or 90th, it is even transparent. Choreographers tend to conceive the stage as a canvas, coloring the stage all white. They construct the choreographic in the manner of editing a film or a video using editing method such as cross over. They also use filmic language such as close up.
