초록
The purpose of this study is to develop a philosophical vision for dance within the context of Korean higher education which attempts to integrate traditional Korean cultural values and contemporary educational goals. This study presents a pedagogical model of spiraling that explains and discusses how teacher and students can be actively engaged in the teaching/learning process of dance in order to accomplish the contemporary educational goals of dance in Korean higher education. The model, based on the physical characteristics of doing spiraling movement, will provide a metaphor for future dance pedagogy of Korean higher education. The pedagogical model of spiraling developed in this study is rooted as much in traditional Korean values and ideas as in contemporary educational goals so that sometimes seemingly oppositional ideas can be integrated.
