The purpose of the study is to investigate the choreomusical relations represented in Mark Morris’ 「Falling Down Stairs」in order not only to explore the choreomusical perception of the work, but to provide the valuable resources for the choreomusical scholars. The methodology for the study was to examine the relevant dance literature and the internet resources, and to analyze the related video materials. This study exposes how the choreomusical discourses begin and develop, and focuses on how the 「Falling Down Stairs」 was choreographed, and what was the choreographer’s intent of the work, then interprets the choreomusical relations represented in the work. The interpretation of 「Falling Down Stairs」 suggests that the choreography does nothing more than what is being done in the music. 「Falling Down Stairs」reinforces choreomusical discourse, and offers a thoughtful critique, considering the possibilities of dance/music relationship.
