본 연구는 노인의 유익한 여가생활을 위해 ‘예비노인’과 ‘현재노인’으로 분류하여 ‘문화예술활동’에 참여한 시간에 대한 결정요인을 분석하였다. 이어 노인의 문화예술활동 참여가 사회적관계 형성과 밀접한 관련이 있을 것으로 보고 ‘사교활동’의 참여시간에 대한 결정요인을 함께 분석한 후 두 활동 간의 상호관계를 밝히는데 목적이 있다. 분석을 위해 통계청의 「2014 생활시간조사」자료를 사용하였고, 개인이 다양한 영역의 여가활동을 복합적으로 참여하는 점을 고려하여 종속변수간의 연관성이 반영된 다변량 토빗모형을 통해 분석하였다. 연구의 주요결과를 요약하면, 첫째, 사교활동의 결정요인은 예비노인과 현재노인이 비슷한 결과를 보이고 있다. 현재 일을 하고 있거나 가구 내에 돌봄이 필요한 가족이 있는 경우, 즉 개인의 시간제약에 영향을 주는 요인이 있는 경우, 사교활동에 사용하는 시간이 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 노인들이 다양한 사회적인 네트워크를 형성할 수 있도록 시간적인 제약을 받지 않고 참여 할 수 있도록 정책적 방안 마련이 요구된다. 둘째, 문화예술활동은 예비노인의 경우 도시지역과 비도시지역의 시간사용격차가 발생하는 것으로 나타남에 따라 비도시지역의 물리적 접근성을 제고하여 지역 간 격차를 완화하는 방안을 모색해야한다. 반면, 현재노인의 경우 고학력자와 고소득자가 문화예술활동에 강하게 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났는데, 저학력자와 저소득층도 문화예술활동의 접근할 수 있도록 다각적인 프로그램 마련이 시급하다. 또한 현재노인의 경우 사교활동과 문화예술활동 간의 상호관계가 대체적인 것으로 나타나므로, 현재노인에게는 사교활동과 문화예술활동을 결합하여 두 활동이 보완적으로 작용할 수 있는 대책이 필요하다.
Abstract
For the beneficial leisure life of the elderly, the purpose of this study is to analyze the determinants of time use for social activities and cultural activities, and the relationship between the two activities. By classifying the elderly as “the semi-elderly”and“the currently-elderly,”this paper investigates more about the differences in activity behaviors of two groups. We use‘2014 Time Use Survey’data for the empirical analysis and a multivariate tobit model for the correlation between dependent variables. The main results of this study are as follows. First, we found that the determinants of social activities have similar results for both the semi-elderly and the currently-elderly. The time spent on social activities has been shown to decrease if there are family members in the household that need care and are currently working, indicating that these factors can affect individual time constraints. Second, the time spent gap between urban and non-urban areas appeared to arise for the semi-elderly people, so that cultural activities for them should seek to mitigate the gap between regions by enhancing physical accessibility. On the other hand, for the currently-elderly, the result showed that it is urgent for low-educated and low-income people to come up with diverse programs to gain access to cultural activities. Also, we found that the interrelationship between social and cultural activities shows to be a substitute for the currently-elderly.
